Musch of the equipment on board has been restored to 1945 to represent the golden age of World War 2 submarine development. Be sure to engulf yourself in the "red room" where the atmosphere of the cramped quarters paired with buystling waves on San Francisco Bayt paired with riveting audio stories from former USS Pampanito Sailers themselves. See if you can catch the actual procalaimiation of war after the attack on Pearl Harbor and a transmittal of war time instructions next to the authentic coded typewriter. de Young MuseumThe architecture of the building itself, rebuilt and completed in 195 features a unique system of ball bearing sliding paltes that dampens fault movement and absorbs kinetic energy created by moving paltes and converts it into harmless heat. San Francisco twice defeated bond measures that would have funded its reconstruction and eventually privitized support allowed the de young Museum to remain in Golden gate Park. Its controversial architecture is a juxtapose against the ever-evolving sustainable green inspiration The museum houses fine arts collections of contemporary American, colonial and late 19th century to early 20th century Californian art and crafts. The de Young museum is free to the public every first Tuesday of every month! |
